Sedentary Nomad, is an inviting public presentation created by Natasha Torres-Garner. The performance features 5 Winnipeg dance artists, Alexandra Elliott, Tanja Woloshen, Ali Robson, Elise Allard and Natasha Torres-Garner.
The dance performance explores the challenges of preparing to leave the private comforts and safety of home for the more unpredictable social dynamics of the public realm. Sedentary Nomad, looks at these given social dynamics as driven by competition, but made up of individuals capable of compassion, and needing connections with others to survive.
The outdoor performance aims to bring dance to the public space, allowing for physical expression to be welcomed back into our daily lives.

Artist Biography: Natasha Torres-Garner
After graduating from the Senior Professional Program of the School of Contemporary Dancers, Torres-Garner started her professional career as a company dancer for WCD from 2002-2008. Her independent experience during and since then, has given her the opportunity to work with Montreal’s Fortier Danse Création, Bill Coleman, in repertoire by the late Jean-Pierre Perreault (Montreal), as well as with Winnipeg's Tom Stroud, Out of Line Theatre, TRIP Dance Company, Treasure Waddell, Johanna Riley, Alex Elliott, Ali Robson and Ming Hon.
As a choreographer Natasha Torres-Garner has presented solo and group works locally and internationally, including Winnipeg, Regina, London(UK), Toronto, St. John's, Newfoundland and Dresden, Germany. Throughout Torres-Garner’s experience she has received mentorship from the late senior choreographers Rachel Browne, as well as Davida Monk, Serge Bennathan, Karen Kuzak, and Tom Stroud.
Torres-Garner has been involved in initiating a number of collaborative creative teams as well as collective presentations, including shotAG (Dresden, Germany),The Rite Productions (Winnipeg), and Momentum Collective (Winnipeg). Her commitment to collaborative forces has been a long term love, that brought her to being a founding member and then Organization Director for Young Lungs Dance Exchange, now celebrating it's 10th Birthday!
