BRIANNA FERGUSON was selected by The Dance Post to take part in our NEW TEACHERS ACT, established to provide opportunity and resources to professional dancers wanting to gain experience teaching a professional class.
Brianna began training at the young age of 3 in her hometown of Victoria, British Columbia. In 2010 she moved to Winnipeg to go to the school of contemporary dancers professional program. There she preformed works by Sylvain Émard (Sylvain Émard Danse), Christopher House (Toronto Dance Theatre), Jolene Bailie (Gearshifting performance works), Christina Medina (@tendance), Odette-Heyn (Odette-Heyn Projects) with Winnipeg's Symphony Orchestra, and Gaile Peterson-Hiley (Mouvement Dance). She also preformed in "The 60 Dancer Project" a work by Tedd Robinson for the Canada Dance Festival, and "Argon ll" presented by Constance Cooke, in her graduating year. After graduating she was hired as an apprentice with Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers. As an apprentice, she travelled with the company to Prince Edward Island to preform a full length piece by company director Brent Lott at the 150th PEI celebration Zone Production. She also preformed with the company for its 50th anniversary show "For The Turnstiles". She is now making her debut performance as a company member in their first show of the season "Gorge". She is also thrilled to be traveling to Vienna, Austria for a month to preform with Christina Medina (@tendance).
